Is this a good idea, would it work? For some reason I get the feeling the egg would foul the water quickly.

I just use tank water and a tiny peice of an algae wafer for phosphate to cultivate algae. It works!

Oh, I dont need to cultivate algae myself but I found the video and thought maybe it may be useful to someone else
