Hey all,
Just finished fishless cycling my new 20Long, so I decided I'd hop on down to my LFS and pick up some fish I've been eying. :D
I'm going for an Indian/Indonesian biotope with a creek cross section look: a mix of eco-complete and play sand on the sides and more play sand in the middle. I'd like to plant the sides a bit more, maybe throw some rotala indica in each, but I do like the open forest-y effect of the crypts. Let me know what you think! :)

Substrate: Eco-Complete/Play sand
Filter: Aqueon Quietflow 10 (sufficient for now, may upgrade later)
Light: Working on a hood/stand for a T5 shoplight I picked up at Home Depot. For now, just a CFL.
Tank: 20Long 30x12x12
Fauna: A pair of Badis Badis (for now)
Flora: Hairgrass, C. parva, C. Wendtii, and one Tiger Lotus

Anywho, here are some pics:

Female Badis. Can anyone tell if she's gravid? Sure looks like it.

Both of them.

I was thinking of putting a group of threadfin, furcata, and/or celebes rainbows in the tank, hopefully they'd occupy the center of the tank. Anyone have advice on them?

These were the only Badis I've seen in my area, so hopefully I'll be able to raise the fry up. :)

Are these the bigger badis? I definitely see the resemblance to my Scarlet badis, but I'm wondering why the Scarlets got moved over to Dario?

Yup yup, bigger and badis-er. :p I read somewhere that they moved the scarlet badis into Dario because of different breeding habits. They really are quite the chameleon though! My male is currently a dark brown/blue all over, while the female has gotten rid of her stripes. So cool!

I bet my badis would win in a fight :p jk

Anyways, I can't really tell the difference between gravid and fat :p. 3 bloodworms and my badis look like that lol.. and I don't even know if I have any females. There are some reports of colored females (they look like stressed males) but most other places say they they're pale and pinkish.

I have 2 dominant males for sure, and the rest are eithe females or submissive males.
