Hey guys,

We just set up our first brackish tank and want to put some live plants for the inhabitants, which is only a moray eel right now.

Any ideas of what can live in the salt/brackish water?

The list above is a good starting point but not a full listing on plants that can live in BW conditions.

You can also do vallisneria, sagittaria, water lettuce, duck weed, salvinia in lower to mid SG for BW. Depending on how high your SG will be, if you stay to the lower end, you can go with amazon swords, ludwigia repens, and some of the more non-delicate plants.

But if you're leaning more towards SW, none of them will work. The higher the salinity, the less chance you have of your plants working out well.

Well we have a moray eel and by the sounds of it while it starts to get older it will eventually be most happy in a SW tank but for now we have a BW setup and want to provide as much cover and natural hiding places that we can. Oh and we love the live plants!!
