I'd like to get some real plants for my 75 gal tank.
But how do you vacuum the gravel without disturbing the plants?
And what plants would you recommend for someone that doesn't know much about live plants.
Thanks

With a planted tank there is no need to vacuum the rock, the plants can feed of the detris which collects in the rock although some heavy root feeding plants will benefit from root tabs placed below the gravel near the plant.

Getcha feet wet fish tank people!

I have three live plant tanks, one is a 75 gallon. My substrate is organic dirt capped with ecco complete or small gravel. Don't push the vacuum tube into the gravel, just hover it over to suck up the waste and left over food, etc. As far as what kind of plants, you need to get proper lights depending on the plant whether it's high or low light. There are numerous posts in this forum to get you started.

Some easy beginner plants would include; Java fern, anubias, water wisteria, Java moss, Amazon sword, anacharis, crypt wendtii, dwarf Sagittaria, tiger lotus, and melon sword.
