iron, how often?

How often you guys dose iron? Do you try to keep a detectable level, like 0.1 ppm, or just look for deficiency signs? Seachem suggest daily doze of 0.1 ppm for well planted aquarium, is it overkill or reality?

I would use enough to prevent any signs of problems. When I was supplementing plant tanks I would time all dosing for my weekly water changes.
