Java Fern

Hi I was told that the Java fern needs reduced light. That is why some of the leaves turn black. this is a 28 gal tank fully planted with an LED for lights on for 11 hours. But, I guess just like outdoor plants some like shade and some don't. Was I given the correct info?

Java Fern can be grown in low light, medium light, or even high light. High light just makes it grow faster.
