I know that I want plants in another tank, but I've seen pictures of other people's tanks, which seem to have the "natural look" with plants everywhere. I want my fish to be healthy, but I also want to be able to enjoy looking at them. I can't do that if they're always hidden. Is there a good level of plants? I was thinking of Platies.

What is your setup? Tank, Lights, Fish, etc... What would you like to achieve? I have tons of plants, and given a minute or two I can find any of my fish...

Believe it or not. With a lot of cover fish are more likely to be out and about because they feel more secure with lots of places to hide.

I think rich is right, but it will still depend on the type of fish you are keeping... Some will hide more than others. I rarely see my Kuhli Loach, for instance, but that is his nature, and to keep him otherwise could have averse effects.
