I have just purchased some plants. i have 55 gall double light strip with 40watts each, a friend of mine gave me snails... they seem to eat all the plant leafs..does anyone have a suggestions ...or getting rid off them is the only way..also do i have enought lighting?

What is the answer for people that do not care to buy fish they don't want/need/or are inappropriate for their tank?

First, the snail needs to be identified. Loaches may not be able to chow down on malaysian trumpet snails all that easily for example.

Second, some species are perfectly fine in a planted tank. Again, the snail needs identifying.

try to describe the shell to us. is it long and kinda swirly and pointy or is it like a flat shell in a spiral pattern? or maybe big and round. is it black yellow clear? anything to help would be great.
