After reading all the bad reviews and very few good ones on electric blue jack dempseys I decided to make the leap. I bought two yesterday at my lfs. I had been setting up a tank for them for the last 2 months but as luck would have it I bought an 11.25" Oscar the day before these beauties came in. I have them in an already cycled tank with a few other small fish right now.
Any advice or ideas would be greatly appreciated.

They are very beautiful fish. In my experience with EBJD they are hardy the first few months like most cichlids. Then for mostly unknown reasons there behavior will take dive. They will start to hide and become very finicky eaters followed by ailing health. At first signs of this avoid stress. Make water changes as less traumatic as possible. They should not be with any aggressive fish. I had a 4 inch EBJD killed by my 3inch discus. I thought the he would be safe with the discus. Anyways enjoy why you can.
