filter question

I am looking to upgrade my current system. I currently have a HOB aquaclear 70 on my 55g. Can anyone tell me which is better a wet/dry or a canister?

My vote is with canister. I use and love Rena XP's.

I also use Rena XP4. Just the filters and no chemical media. I wash them every week and you casee how much brown stuff comes off your tank.

With no chemical media how do you get other stuff out of your tanks?
