Got a 29G tank for xmas...

Hi everyone.
I'm completely new to the science and a bit intimidated even if committed
.
I received a 29G tank for xmas, knowing NOTHING about aquarium sciences at all.
At this point I have done a fair amount of online research, but you know how that goes... I've now been exposed to too many opinions and am trying to sort them all out.
I am hoping that I will find clarification and tolerance for my totalnewb questions here with you guys.
thanx in advance.
