Hello! My name is Craig. I have a 55 gallon tank. This is my first tank. I am building a reef tank. I have been given the tank two filters both of which have bio wheels. I just purchased 40lbs of live sand. I plan to add dry sand if more is necessary. Going to put in some dry rock with some live rock.

a good ratio for live to dry rock is 80% dry or dead and 20%. this is to save money since live is hard to come by cheap also the bacteria from the live will populate to the dead hence helping the dead contribute to the buffering as well. this is advice I picked up at the store I go to for animal advice mostly aquarium stuff though.
