Hi, I am new to club membership, I do things alone, after being at sea for
years and being totally self supportive. I have had tanks in the past, but now
that I am retired I aim to set one up as near as possible to self substainability.
I am an engineer and my other hobby is steam model engineering, so much of what I aim to do I'll make myself....even the tank..which I'm looking into now. I find the the depth of knowledge required to raise fish in a closed
enviroment is pretty deep, and there's no turning back one started. Befor
in S.Africa, I had marine tank between the lounge and the garage, my other
half looked after it [ it was inherited ] I was only involve once at home [ every
9 / 10 mths. Now I am on my own and firing on all cylinder's. PLease
don't let me fail, it's not me now, but a full size club to back me, so first I
want to say hello all, and forgive me iff I come over as a numpty.
Regards everybody mikesurt

Cool, a DIY bloke from England!
Say no more.
Bucks lad myself.
Steam engineering could be quite interesting! (As a side show to the fish of course!)
My other hobbies involve plastic kits but models are models. Obviously I wish mine chugged out steam but, there weren't many steam aircraft!

What is it traction engines, trains or what?
Forgive my nosey nature, my mate had a hex amine block train and track it was cool, and another little hex amine engine that drove a fly wheel.......
Fascinating little things they were.
