LOUD filter?

well i got this filter that came with my 55 gal, and it was quiet the first 3 weeks then i noticed it got a bit louder. i took out the impeller and cleaned it,then ran just the motor without impeller and it was very quiet. by the way its a aquatech 3060 , anyone know whats wrong?

You probably either have sand/grit in the impeller shaft or the impeller shaft is starting to dig into the surrounding magnet and not spin perfectly vertical anymore. You can try turning off the filter, sticking something into the shaft to stir things up in there and hopefully loosen the grit (then turning it upside down to get it out) before turning it back on or buy a new impeller.

Be careful not to let the filter media dry out, and try not to use tap water to clean it with as this may kill the bacteria in there.

You could try cleaning the impeller with white vinegar. Sometimes deposits build up on the impeller.
