need for HOB Filter...

Ok my 50 gal has about 70-75lbs of LR... I am running a Penguin 175 HOB Filter, my question is, do i need the Filter or can i take it off. (its really noisy now, its pretty old.. TIA!!!

Buy a new one..heres a small secret. If you go to Petsmart.com and find the one you want, print the ad off of the internet and take it into the local store and its as much as half off sometimes depending on what you buy. Most of the time the filters will run for like $50 and you can get it by doing this for say $25-32. I would keep one on there for running like carbon and such...just my opinion..
