Octopus BH 100F setup help!

I just purchased a Octopus BH100F protein skimmer and am totally confused about how to get up and running. I have assembled it, but besides that I dont really know where to start. I was told not to put collection cup in until you get unit up and running. Does it matter what chamber I fill with water? How do I get siphon started and where does the silencer with the 2 nipples go? Sorry about the stupid questions but I am really scared to start a flood because my wife will kill me! Thanks for the help.

I don't have that skimmer but I would think you would want the collection cup on when you have it running otherwise stuff would spill out of it.
