Because I regret getting play sand for my shrimp tank I wanted to change it ASAP. I am thinking about black sand because I think it really brings out the red in my shrimps.

I don't want to get blasting sand because I only need enough for a 10g.

I was wondering which would be better? Black petco sand or tahitian moon sand?

The Tahitian moon sand is a very deep black. I just replaced my old sand with it about a month ago. Very easy to rinse. I say moon sand

Thanks! I just ordered 20lbs for my 10g tank. 20lbs should be enough right? Also, how long should I rinse it for?

Ya twenty pounds should be enough. What I did and would recommend doing is pouring about 10 lbs into a 5 gallon bucket. I used a short hose attachment from my sink so that I could really get down to the bottom of the sand. Fill the water up and let the fine stuff rinse off a bit. Empty the water and repeat. I had to wash 75lbs and it only took me about 2 hours total. Compare that to when I was 20lbs of red fluorite for about an hour and a half.
