Sump

I have just about had it with my current wet/dry by TOMS. The built in protein skimmer sucks and I have contiuous overflow problems because of the surface skimmer/overflow box. I want to get a true sump for my 75gallon saltwater. What is the general rule of thumb when it comes to sump/size of tank? I will eventually upgrade in less than a year to a 125-180gallon tank. I was hoping to hold the sump off until I got my new big tank, but I can't wait. I was thinking I could get a 30gallon sump/refugium and then still use it later when I upgrade. Would that work? Any recommendations on where to buy a sump/refugium would be appreciated. I don't want to deal with a DIY right now, I am too busy. I may consider an LFS to custom make one, but ideally I would just like to buy one that is ready to go. Thanks.

A 30 gallon should be fine. Drs.Foster and Smith carry some as does Marine Depot, etc.

Check out the ADHI 30 gal and a google search for more options.

Would I be able to make a refugium in something like that?

Sure. I did! It's loaded with chaeto and an unbelievable amount of pods for my mandarin.
