Sybon refractometer calibration

I've just picked up a Sybon Refractometer and gave it a whirl. I'm glad I picked it up. It's calibrated out of the box but I'm not sure for what. It says that if you want to calibrate (down the road) for salinity use the pure water solution that they provide. If you want to perform seawater salinity measurement then you have to buy another solution. I guess we need it for salinity...right?
