I have about 50 black convict fry, which hatched about 2 weeks ago. They are doing well, and dad is very protective. How long will it take for the fry to reach 1" long? Also, how long does dad protect them? I want to add some new fish in the end of Feb., but won't if dad is still being protective. I'll be moving mom to my smaller tank to avoid future babies. I don't have another tank to put the fry into. Right now they are in a 75 gal with 2 green terror juvvies, 2 blood parrots, a JD juvie, a 6" bala shark and a pictus catfish 3". Thanks in advance, these are my first (and very unexpected!) Babies.

When I was breeding convicts, the parents would protect the fry until their next batch was ready to hatch. Then they would chase their fry away if they tried to eat the eggs.
