My girlfriend has a 20 gallon long tank that is planted. She recently added a male and female German Blue Ram. The stomach on the female has turned a vibrant red color, and the two seem to have a closer partnership than before.

Is that a sign that the female is pregnant?

You might want to check out this page, probably the best I have seen on blue rams. There is a section on breeding towards the end that describes the "red belly" on the female as a sign she is ready and willing to breed. Note that the site sometimes takes a long time to come up (and I am on a high-speed connection), so be patient.

Also note, technically speaking rams are egg-layers, so the female can never be "pregnant." :p

Oh, and if you are looking to breed them, you might consider looking at the "Breeding" forum, and posting breeding-specific questions on that one rather than here in the General forum.
