I HAVE A 29 GALLON, WELL ESTABLISHED TANK THAT HAS A "CONE"-SHAPED SNAIL PROBLEM. THERE ARE 10-15 LARGE SNAILS (1INCH) AND MANY "BABY" SNAILS AT A TIME THAT "DISAPPEAR" FOR A DAY OR TWO THEN REAPPEAR. I DON'T KNOW THEIR SOURCE, WHAT HAPPENS TO THEM AND HOW NEW ONES REAPPEAR. PROS AND CONS? SOLUTION? THANKS, PADDYJR

If u did not buy snails they came from your live plants. The best way to get rid of them is but a piece of cucumber or lettuce on the substrate and wait a few hours with the light off. BTW this is best done at night.

Is this your snail?

Sounds like MTS (malaysian trumpet snails) and they go into the substrate most of the time. I actually covet them, so they can clean out my sand beds and keep anaerobic gases from building up.

Ya i have a pic of the MTS (malaysian trumpet snails) in my post above.

Cause- overfeeding or inadequate cleaning.

Solution- Manual removal of as many as possible followed by more careful feedings and cleanings.

How often are you feeding?
