I got 4 of these today, maybe two male and two female. They are very small, but already so colorful. Will they kill baby shrimp? I heard they hunt...

They will eat very small juveniles. I have observed them doing so in my tank. But most will survive.

I hate you! I want these for my shrimp tank >.<

:thanks: Sake :ROFLMAO:

LFS ships! 4 for 9.99! Shipping would kill ya, I suspect. IDNK $ for shipping.

They are so pretty.

So they are good for the shrimp tank? 6.6 Edge...

I have been keeping them in various CRS tanks for a year or so now. They are probably my favorite FW fish for a nano tank.

Awesome. LFS said he had kept back ordering them for a few months and finally got them in, so I ended up getting them a little sooner than I had originally planned, just in case it took awhile for them to come in again. The other fish store wanted like $6. each for them.

Yeah I've found them for 2.50 a piece but shipping was 40 bucks so I had to pass >.<

Fort, how would you feel about a small group in a 2 gallon? I'm always tossing and turning on keeping or not keeping a few fish.

I just like to know people's opinions.

what would a small group be for a 2 gal or a 6.6 gal with shrimp? Also would like to know, as I think a few fish would be nice for a layered effect for additional interest in the tank.

I can't decide on what to keep in my 6.6 Edge. Then I keep seeing the Chi and I love that you can grow some plants out in the top. So I am considering a trio of cool looking tanks on top of a cabinet. Betta in one, two kinds of shrimp (Caridina and Neocaridina) in one and two kinds of shrimp and these little guys in the other. That way I can have Painted Fire red shrimp or when I am much more experienced, Blue Tiger with them I think the colors would be great together.

I am not sure I would put chilis in a 2.5. They are tiny fish but they do swim. Bioload wise though i am sure 3-4 would be fine. In a 6 gallon I think 8-10 would be fine.

Caridina and neocaridina could be kept in the same tank together but they prefer different water parameters so it would be difficult to get both species to breed in the same tank.

Thanks so much! I might give it a shot and have a backup plan ready.

And about certain Cardinia and neos together, you could do cherries and CRS, but when it comes to the much more expensive ones. I agree, I wouldn't risk it.

I know Neo's and Caridina's have different water params, but I've noticed that my RCS in a pH of 6.5-6.8 look better, and have a slightly better red coloring than the RCS in 7.8-8.0 pH range in my other tank. Would it work if you acclimated them slow enough? Also, if you want to mix species, try and get your pH pretty low. I'm sure neocaridina's can stand a low pH, but Caridina's are more sensitive and might die in higher pH's.

Yeah he made a point I meant to make you have to go more towards the PH of the Cardinia species. The neos will be ok if acclimated well.

I saw a kind of shrimp, was Paracardinia, is that a different Genus then?

Only sources of paracardinia are German sites. I'll do a translation of them later. I don't know what paracardinia is, but if it is real then I'd of course say a different genus

What to do now?

Finally cleaned out the 6.6 Edge and got all the fry out of the tank. Left my favorite guppy there to keep company with the Chilis. But bad news found one body, so I am down to three.

I have three Chilis and one young guppy. Nothing else except petrified wood and rocks and a few plants.

Jetajockey is sending me plants lots of Java moss and I should have them in a couple days. I am SOOOOOO excited. I couldn't find the moss around here for a decent price. Thanks Jeta. Also pink and gold Ramshorn.

And a striped Mystery snail or two. Whoop whoop!!!

Advise for this tank.

I am probably getting a couple more orange shrimp too in the next week or two.
