Hello! I've ha my 37 gallon tank for quite a while! I did a fish less cycle, but it crashed and I had to start over. Then I did a fish in cycle and then began adding fish very slow as my water was havering problems but it is ok now! So right now, all I have is 4 Julii Cory's, 5 lamp eye tetras, 5 gold barbs and 5 zebra danios. I stil am getting 1 angelfish, 1 pleco, 8 rumynose tetras(I will return zebra danios, and 2 gbr. So questions are::: what to add next and when? Also, I really want to add 3 platys or sword tails, is that possible? I know I'm close to stocked but I want a little part of the tank with bright colors!! Or Mabye a killifish?

I'm new to this fish thing. But I have had a swordtail since day one. Lived through my insane water changes (had to cycle) and a series of ich. Has been a real trooper and I've heard they are decently hardy fish. However after all that craziness it has contracted something now as you can see from My pics. Up until now its withstood a whole lot.Just what I've had experience with.

4 julli cories, 5 lampeye tetras, 5 barbs, 2 rams, 1 Pleco, 1 angel, and 8 rummy nose in a 37 gallon is plenty stocked. I wouldn't do anymore. Swords/Molly/platy are all have high bioloads, and your tank will already be borderline. Make sure you get a bushy nose Pleco.

I second that

What!? You recommend NOT getting swords or mollies because of high bio-loads but then say get a pleco. Plecos have really high bio-loads! Jeees!

I already had a pleco in my plan. However, what if I took that out and then got 3 platys?

If you like plecos, then get one. Research the ones you like that stay pretty small. Then you could use aquadvisor.com and research what you can have together. It's your tank so stock what YOU like after you do your research. That's the fun of it. OS.

Thanks. I don. Know if you've read my other threads but I've put nearly 9 months of reserch into this, and I know that's what I want. However, I'd be ok swapping out the pleco for 3 platys or another smal group fish if it works. Any ideas on what I could replace a pleco with? Platys?

Ps is get nerite snails for algea

I love my nerites. They really help keep algae down. Sorry I didn't know about your other threads. I personally have always kept livebearers in their own tank and egg layers in their own except for some guppies. They go good with anything. Swords, mollies and platys like a little harder KH and a little salt in their water like in their natural waters. In fact mollies are quite hardy when kept in a 1 tsp/5gal solution. That's not to say that livebearers won't live well with egg layers but the water for most egg layers doesn't need that much salt or hardness.(except african cichlids) Depends on how "perfect" you want the water for each. Personally, I'd enjoy watching platys & swords more than a pleco. LOL But that's just me. Good luck, OS.
