New to this. Finally got my tank set back up after nine month without it. This faithless cycle is killing me

FishLESS cycle isn't the only way to go. You can get yourself a hardy fish like a Molly, platy, swordtail, or danio and you can achieve the same thing in a lot shorter period of time. You could also load the tank with live plants, so the fish will be in a better situation. What size tank is it? What do you plan on stocking?

Live plants can definitely lower ammonia, nitrite, or nitrate levels.

It's a jewel Rio 125. I got slot of seed material so o have good readings considering im only two weeks in. Nearly converting the 2pt ammonia in the 24 hr. I just got live plants and they demolished the nitrate but they don't look healthy. I got interpet flora boost and will try that. I fancy a plec but unsure regarding sizes Im not a big fan of bristlenose fancy a gold nugget or snowball depending on size. Want a khuli a serum a flying fox and some angels

If you get flying foxes, you need a really tight lid. Do you like clown plecs? You mean kuhli loach? What type of plants did you get? Great! The nitrates are down. :)

The caribsea ready water rapidly speeds up cycling. It work amazing for my 23g.

It's a secure lid. I'm undecided on wether or not to get a Siamese algae instead of the Fox. Yeah a khuli loach mate. I'm not sure about the plants I think there's a type of swordplant don't think it's Amazon cos it has red in it. The grass stuff I think it's Vilas or something and then the usual tall growing plants that I don't know the name of, it's the bushy looking ones that go at the back

Siamese algae eater will get territorial as they get older. They will also eat less and less algae the older they get. The grass type plant, is it jungle val or vallisneria? I love black kuhli loaches. What type of substrate are you having?

I've got play sand. I thought it was just the Chinese algae eaters that done that. Vallisneria I think. Khulis are cool they look marine. What have you got

Right, its the Chinese algae eaters. Sorry, not the Siamese. Lol. Jungle val is a type of vallisneria. I'm setting up the 55 gal with pool filter sand as substrate and definitely getting jungle val. I'm also gonna get some black kuhli loaches. It's gonna be a planted community tank.

Doing a fish IN cycle is really cruel , it worth waiting a couple more weeks , and if you call your self a fish lover and you do a fish in cycle and male those fish suffer high amounts of ammonia and nitrite than you aren't really a true fish lover

Not true what so even...I will leave it at that.

Well it is very cruel because the ammonia burns their gills !!! And the water can get really toxic for them , it's not worth it , so if you do a fish In cycle than you shouldn't even have fish because you can kill them and you know they can die ! Sometimes 1-2 can live but it's not worth it

That's a bit harsh considering people have cycled with fish for centuries. Fish have adapted to survive in all sorts of conditions and some fish will take it in their stride. I made the decision to do a fishless cycle and see it through but I don't judge anyone who chooses a fish cycle.

Cool I don't really know what it is lol. I found a guy on Facebook that sells fish and accesories and he was selling 25 plants for £5. Which is around $4 or 5 I think which is a good deal In the UK. I got interpet flora boost as I think they'r dying off. How long does it roughly take for them to root as they were all cuttings

I did one and lost 1 of my four danios I was sad yes but I don't think my parameters were to blame . Think I just got a sick one

Doing a fish in cycle isn't cruel at all... If anything you'll end up with the strongest fish IF you even lose any at all. I've done fish-in cycles forever and I haven't had one fish die.
