Hi, we have a new set-up that we acquired and have two questions about what is in the tank.

I've attached a pic of the tank i took last night.

Please look in the very bottom left, there is this what i think may be dead coral?? something dead anyways... please let me know what it is and what we should do with it?

Second, when cleaning and such, my husband found these little worm like creatures in the live rock. if you look at the mound of rock on the right but at the far left of that mound you may be able to see a little tube thing sticking out that was part of one of these creatures. what are these and are they bad, good, nature organisims, etc???

Thank you!!!

ps i know this tank needs lots of work and some quipment upgrades.. we are working on everything slowly. This tank was not well taken care of previous to us.

Lets try the pic once more. And thank you! Very excited, always wanted one!

Can you get a more close up picture of what you'd like ID'ed? Even maximized on the screen I can't figure out what you mean I'm afraid.

Here we go. It is covered with sand right now but hopefully you can still tell. The thing under the clown.

Pick it up,if it's like all hard and white with no flesh it's dead. If it has some color it might be ok get the sand off of it and see what happens.leave it in sometimes they can release smaller plates.

Yeah it almost looks puffy. You can try to feed it. See if it eats. But def get the sand off it. They like to be on the sand with nothing bothering them. If you wanna try feeding, you can put a piece of meaty food slightly smaller than its mouth on him right in the slit. Takes them a few minutes to eat though. You'll see his mouth very slowly open and slowly suck in the food. Good luck! Hope he's alive. They're cool. I have a huge one.

Get that airstone out of the tank and add some power heads. You are also maxed out with fish, and don't be surprised if that angel eats your corals. You need to take a close picture of the worms and such you are speaking of.

Thanks guys!! We are going to clear off the sand and try feeding it.

I got the advice on the air stone today. I'm also waiting on a new aquaclear 110 filter and a 1400/1500 power head to come in ;)

Also, we are rehoming the angel.

You can see my 'getting started' post regarding all that. We got this setup from someone who obviously never did any real research and didn't take very good care of the tank. We are rehoming the angel and the tomato clown. We know they don't fit in this tank.

;)

I definitely think its alive!

Trying to get the sand off without junking up the tank. I've got about 60% off now.

What exactly do we feed this coral??? I don't know of the previous tank owner even knew what he had with this guy as he never said anything about it.

Ill also try to get pics close up of the worm things. I think they are hard to see the way the rock is arranged.

Yay. He's alive and all cleaned off now.

Now.. What to feed it?

Piece of fish, clam, shrimp a good frozen food has nice chunks of meat in it. At the most once a week you will have to guard it until it gets it into its mouth which is right on top.(slow eater) looks like a feather duster does it pop out of one end and open up?

Coolness. Thanks. We've not yet seen any movement from it. I imagine the poor guy is really underfed. Im really not certain the guy even knew this and wonder how its been kept alive all this time.

The angel and the kole tang have been pecking at it ever since we got all the sand off ;/.

Yeah I rarely feed mine. He likes krill and silversides. Ill also put some mysis in a syringe and blast him slowly. It's cool because hell grab the mysis and slowly pull them into his mouth but they look like they hover over his body. That's my fav way to feed him.
