I'm so sick & tired with these rena xp3 filters. I just did that water change. Cleaned the filters. Primed them. Started them back up. & only one turned on. -.-
I've been trying to get it to turn on but it won't. I'm beyond frustrated with these things. Any ideas on how to fix it?

Throw it at a wall because its a POS. Get an AC 110!

I had trouble with my canister's and i switched to aq's and i have not had any trouble with them. Amazon has a good deal on them.

How is the tank coming along?

Ahh. I've been slow on updates. Work has gotten extremely busy lately. We are trying to get the last of our watermelons & cantaloupes picked. It's hot, exhausting work lol.

But I have dosed my ammo up to 4ppm twice now, (today being the third day). & by the time I check it 24 hours later the ammonia is gone. The nitrites are starting to go down faster. Meaning I'm getting a lot more nitrates. I think that huge water change helped out. My nitrates are close to 160ppm. It's a dark maroon color. I'm guessing this will be my last week cycling. Maybe by Monday or Tuesday I'll be ready to put them in :).

Also, I'm getting green algae in my 10 gallon tank. How do I control that? :/.

& I haven't done anything with that broken canister filter -.- Wednesday I'll send it back. My next day off lol.

Before you add fish your gonna need to do a 95% WC.

I used to pick watermelon in florida as my first job. If work 12 hour days and bring home around 150 a day from it. This was 6 or 7 years ago. Very exhausting work

I can manage that now that I got that python thing lol. It saves my back.

Oh yeah, we are picking trailers full. I'm guessing you did the same thing. 12 hours is a lot of watermelons. Lol. I love it though. The stories we tell, the things we find. It all makes it fun. But at the end of the day, I'm done. Haha.

Yeah by the end of the day I was done too

Hello!!

I'm positive my tank is cycled. 4 days in a row now I've treated to 4ppm ammonia & watched it deplete within 24 hours. As well as the nitrites. I'm just going to dose it today. & tomorrow then on Wednesday do my big water change & hopefully move my fish in :).

Also how do I get rid of this algea on my 10 gallon tank? It's all over the eoo complete & the glass.

Welcome back bud! Sounds cycled to me! Get those fish acclimated to the tank asap and move them boogers!

As for algae, you need to limit your lights to 6 hours a day. Can you post a pic of the algae?

I'm so busy right now with work. It's hectic -.-

How do I acclimate them properly?

Okay, that's the best picture I can get. Does it help?

Put them in a bucket and start a siphon with airline tube from the water in the 175g into the bucket. Do each fish separately

How long have you been leaving the light on?

Around 7-8 hours a day. I'm going to buy a timer Wednesday. But I've been very consistent.

To help rid the algae, lower it to 6 hours. Could just be diatoms but it doesnt look like it to me

It looks exactly like diatoms... And it being on the substrate as well as the glass pretty much confirms it. I've had my 4th outbreak of diatoms because of the increased silicates in my water.

Well my tank is cycled :).

0 ammonia.
0 nitrites.
160ppm nitrates! :).

I'm going to do a large water change, 90-95 percent? Check the water again after 30 minutes. Then start adding the fish. I'm going to add the sharks, the bristlenose, & the Severums first. Leave the oscars behind until tomorrow. :).
I'm excited.

Sounds like a plan. You could add them all today with no problems. If you cycled with 4ppm of ammo then your
Good

Should I give the other fish time to establish themselves before putting the oscars in or it won't matter?

Also, the temps of the tanks are the same. Do I just net them & put them in there?
