Angelfish??

Would an angelfish work with this stock?

1x Bolivian ram
4x giant danio
1x albino senegalus

40 gallon planted tank

Thanks Caleb! The danios just chase each other right now and don't seem to nip anyone's fins but I wanna make sure I'm ok with an angelfish

I don't think mines getting much bigger than he is. He is around 6 inches and kinda stopped growing.... He seems very healthy any how

I've only owned 1 Bichir and it eventually died because it refused to eat anything I gave it. But best of luck with yours.

I dunno, I've heard of bichers eating some crazy big fish. I think an angel would be ok but get a big one...

I would make it an angel that's at least a few inches to make sure because of the size of your bichir

Honestly a 40 gallon seems a bit small for a bicher anyway. Do you have any plans to upgrade him? That would make it a lot better for an angelfish.

I completely read over that. I agree bump to at least 55. Bichir stay mostly on the bottom and get close to a foot in length. A good footprint is nice for them. Angels also appreciate the space. They get larger than a lot of people think.

I've heard lots of sources say a 40 gallon is OK for a senegalus bichir... They honestly don't get much bigger than 8 inches. And have been told that too.... Also I thought angelfish could go into a 30 as a minimum size? (Don't hold me to that?)

I would say 40 gallons is a minimum for senegalus, this is true, but a 55 is much better. And I think angelfish could go as a breeding pair in a 20 high (with nothing else) and probably not smaller than a 30 otherwise.

Mostly it's just that bichers will eat literally anything. I would bet a pretty large sum of money that your danios are going to start disappearing soon. And an angelfish would have to be pretty big to start with not to get eaten.

I have a friend whose a local breeder and he could give me 1 at 4 inches for 6 dollars!! Would that size be ok?
