Hi, I'm new to this so im not sure if I'm doing everything correct lol, but I joined because I recently just started a ten gallon planted tank and I bought some plants from petsmart. I bought mondo grass that came directly out of the tanks (which I now know isn't actully a aquatic plant, thanks petsmart) and also a few top fin plants. But after I set up all the plants and everything I noticed four little fish in there. Its been a few weeks since I noticed them, and Ive been feeding them, and they are grwoing, but I have no clue what kind of fish they are. I attached pictures (or at least I think I did). Any clues?:confused:

glow light tetra? if theres a pink\red line down the midlle of them

Looks to be some type of feeder fish to me. Or are they fry?

36g semi-aggressive
20g community
5.5g betta/ghost shrimp
3g betta
2g fry

I thought they looked somewhat like danios too, they dart around pretty fast, also there isnt really and pink/red line down the center, but when i look really close it looks like they have orange detail on the fins

Also They are fry, I think. When I first noticed them they were about the same size as new molly fry, but now they are about 1/4 inch?

I agree with Gillie, they kinda look like Oryzias Woworae/Ricefish.

But better pics would be very helpful. I will say however, if they just popped up out of nowhere then, the plants could have been carrying the eggs, which means it is definitely a species related to killifish or rainbowfish.

I tried getting good pics, but these fish are darting all over the place haha, Ill still try again though:)

They look like my Danio's. Trouble is with most fry they all look pretty much alike to novices like myself. Let them grow some and it will be easier to tell what they are. Just feed them flakes or whatever fish food you have been. They must be tough to survive in the plants until you got home.

Look closer the double dorsal fin rules out all cyprinid and charicin species.

They are definitely a species of rainbowfish.

The one picture with colored showed that to me. The other ones of them with no color threw me off. Especially the latest one.

That was the main reason I asked for a new pic I couldn't really tell if I was seeing 2 fins or not.

I'm seeing two different fish. Even with the top pics poor quality I cannot see 2 dorsals. Also the top picture (fish) looks much more elongated than the bottom one...by top picture I mean the top of my quote not the thread...That's another thing that threw me off.

If you look at the fish facing left in the first pic you can see the small first dorsal, you just have to really look.
