I like your shrimp tank! About the puffs: I just put in some RCS with my puffs today and I wouldn't do it again. the puffs are looking at the small ones hungrily already. They'll completely deplete your RCS population and won't allow any more to grow up. A better choice would be scarlet badis for your tank. You could do a couple in there. How big is our tank? With 2.5 gallons you could put 1-2 scarlet badis in.

It's 5 gallons. Maybe I will try the scarlet badis.
First, I didn't realize you had a tank thread going, sorry I missed it earlier!

Badis are quite shy, I'd be concerned about the DP harrassing them. It's also difficult to get them to accept anything other than live food.

It would be just the badis and RCS, so no puffers (at least not in that tank). Also, thank you for the tip on feeding. I think am willing to feed them live food.

Sorry, I misunderstood.

Badis are cool little fish, remind me of big cichlid personalties put in a tiny body. I kept mine with shrimp, I'm sure they were eating shrimplets but they would just stalk and stare at the adult shrimp:

Speaking of shrimp, I've been considering adding some new species to the shrimp tank. Right now I'm stuck between tiger shrimp, CRS, and ghost shrimp. Any opinions on those three or other ones I am missing?

Could I keep both CRS and tigers? I heard somewhere that they don't crossbreed often, but when they do it actually looks really cool. I could be completely misinformed, though.

I think since nobody has any input, I'll just go with the tigers. They look really neat, and I think the yellow or blue tiger shrimp would contrast nicely against the red cherry shrimp.

Can't wait to see it! I have no experience with shrimp as I've always had bad luck with them. Can't wait to see pics! :)

Sorry, I didn't get an email about your post.

Tigers and cherries are fine together and won't cross-breed. Tigers are the actually the easiest Caridina shrimp to care for, same requirements as Neos.

I haven't really had much to post about recently, but I just discovered that my dad LOVES cichlids. He talks to my angelfish every day and the angelfish acts almost excited when he comes near the tank and follows him around, but not in an aggressive way. Then, when we were at the fish store a few weeks ago, a yellow lab was showing off and my dad fell in love with that one too. My mom says I can't have any more aquariums, but now I see the possibility of a cichlid tank somewhere in the future.

Good thinking! Get dad involved and you'll get more tanks! Maybe not til xmas but it'll work. Soon as my dad found out I was getting a little money from fish he's been changing the electric so I have enough outlets and wiring lights etc.

I got a new hood for my 20 gallon today that covers the entire tank so water doesn't evaporate, which means I can start preparing for new fish soon!

I just saw something funny and very odd. Three different species of snails all stacked on top of each other!

Lol! My nerite rides on my mysery snail a lot. Then the other day I noticed the nerite laid it's eggs on the big mystery snail's shell. LOL! I love snails.

Here is my 20 gallon tank at the moment. I'm still not satisfied with it at all, so any suggestions for new plants, driftwood positioning, or something else that I haven't noticed yet would be very much appreciated.
