Do you still have those pelvicachromis?

So here are my Pelvicachromis Taeniatus Moliwe...Wild Kribensis from a buddy of mine in Oregon..

The male is behind the female on the left..She is chasing everyone and looking very plump...
Tanks a mess with BBA as I am waitng for my moss to cover the whole surface of the 29g...Getting pretty close now so only plants on outer edges are getting direct light.

Both of those females look ready but they all hide so much..Three clay caves plus natural caves and plants mean they are happy , but really only come out when they please..
I keep waiting to see one of the females toting fry behind her any day...

Good luck with them! I’m envious but have a plan. After the move I think these and nanochromis splendens are happening for sure

Wow!! Your fish look amazing!

In regards to P. kribensis "moliwe":
Females are very aggressive to males... my male had to be removed and rehabbed in a killifish tank due to all the aggression! Excited that you finally got them going! I would suggest keeping two tanks with drastically different water parameters for each half of the fry.... I heard that they have sex ratios that are somewhat weird!

Harder water for boys based on what aquatic clarity says

Yea I am thinking harder and hotter water make boys.
All my apisto /krib tanks go without heaters and get a scary RO mix for most.
They like soft water and I give it to them.
It is funny the hotter water for my swordtails makes females !
Hard to 'regulate ' the ram room ! I feel cold if it is under 78 in here ! .:nono:
Good to hear from you Shane.
The day after the eggs were laid I thought she was going to kill him also_Once I took the eggs she settled and shared his cave that night.
I have 2 caves in their 20g but am placing a third for just those moments !

I think my endlers are the same, warm water means more female.

In another post it references the reason the females are so colorful relates to an acidic environment and many more females than males. Interesting stuff!! I hope you keep these going.

The water is no problem for me and my TDS meter..
I change so much water I do not think I will buy new test kits when they expire.
I did go for a couple weeks recently without my TDS meter and let me tell you..I have 2 on hand now and plan on replacing as soon as one does not work.
The API kit will not register pH or any of the other parameters like gH or Kh on such soft low TDS water so I wonder.
I know I could use my pH controller to get my ph if I cared ,but I really don't.
Weekly or more often water changes and matching temps and original setting forTDS is the way to go IMO.

Cool, I don't know if you guys remember Gary (navigator black), he is obsessed with Pelvicachromis and Congochromis and all sorts of other West African stuff... I look up to him when looking for info.

Not sure if he is on here!

Gary stays away from all forums I think.

He is an amazing writer... I have been learning a lot from him. I think he has published a few books with Oliver Lucanus of Below Water. Powerful combo of pictures and words.

I agree on warmer water=females for Endlers. CB said the same for the Swords. This might be common among livebearers.

Interesting info on water temp and female fry. I have Sword tail fry/ adolescents, they were born beginning of August. They all appear to be female had one who appeared to be male, but he died due to stress, I think. Any way at the time they were born the tank was high seventies.

I have a tank full of juvenile jet black swordtails I hope to get males from !
I am trying them in my lowest tank in the coolest spot as when they were in the 20g rack they produced all females..I mean I have 2 males to 100+ females !
Here is a quick video of my Red Picta which are also in a low tank with no heat [fingers crossed]...
