Looks good Angel! I removed some brown floaters from my tanks also. Need to buy some floaters that don't melt. I am watching your progress to see how the girl's do. Some people (online) say it's abuse to have a sorority which it ridiculous. Life With Pets you-tuber has one and it's quite successful!

Yeah, I'm trying to decide on floaters too. As for the ones who disagree...that usually comes from the people who have bought betta's from a cup just like most of us. Not to be mean or anything, but, anyone who buys a betta from a cup has just saved a fish. In my eyes these fish started out breeding for fighting. Which means the start of breeding betta's came from capture. Some people don't think like I do. But this goes back to the beginning of my post. Why wouldn't you be able to keep them together if they live in the same place together in the wild. A big enough tank should be able to prove that they can. When I get my bigger tank I have my male that will be going in it with my girls. And I might get another male. But, the male I have is a gorgeous one and I'm still a little scared to put another male with him. I might try it if the tank is big enough. But anyways, just to all that disagree and misunderstand betta's. Don't be jealous, not everyone can do this if they don't know how. Everyone has their own thought about this. Just like fish in-cycle or fishless cycle. I love betta's and want more. I do a lot of research on them so I can do this right. And have a few thoughts of my own. I just know it will work. It's to bad more people don't do this. I after wound how many betta's die in cups cause you can only have 1 in a little tank.

Well put Angel. I just made my rounds to the big box pet stores..sad little betta's. Petsmart had one on "special" display in a bowl trying to push the moss balls. I felt the bowl and it was cold. They stuffed a big male in there. I nicely told the guy and the people standing around that this fish needs a larger tank, a heater and a filter. They were selling the moss ball AS a filter. The employee agreed with me and people started asking me questions ignoring the employee. I never meant to be Miss expert but dang! It was a good time to educate some people so I took it.

I then went to Petco and can confirm the $1 per gallon sale.:hide: lol

Lol! I'm looking into a filter system for the size tank I'll be getting. Thinking I want a few bigger hob filter for this one. Don't want them to sailing the sea. Lol!. So you got a male? S.T.B. = save the betta's. [emoji4]

Only $55.00 until April!

I didn't get another Betta, I have 3 as it is. I need more wall space darnit! Do I really need a kitchen table?? [emoji38][emoji38]
Oh my!! how convenient. April 1st Is my birthday. ( Lol! That should tell ya a lot about me) yes! I'm a April fools baby. Lol! Guess I know what I'm getting myself from my hunny. Lol! Guess I better get to making a stand. [emoji6] [emoji57]

Man, if I could guarantee the same results, I’d get another tank just for this purpose. I feel sorry for betas, they get a raw deal..solitary confinement in tiny tanks.
Anybody can do this. Pick out your betta's put them side by side and see if they flare at each other. I picked out 2 and liked how they were. I had 1 younger 1 already. All I did is float them in the 10g for a day and night in a cycle so they see each other. Next day released them same time. Watched carefully that day and next day. This takes time and patience. When ever they flared or started fighting I cupped the one who started it, floated her for a day and over night, then released. I did this with all of them at one point and time. It works! It gives them the thought of living in a cup or in a place where they can swim. So, if anyone thinks they can't do this. Please reconsider. I didn't post this part because at the time. I had alot of things going on. But you all must know I had some tails spilt but they where very miner and healed right up the next day. Only because I watched very carefully for a week. They all get along very well now. But, also keep in mind this is only a 10g. The idea for 3 betta's is 15-20g. But I took a chance. Anyone who has done this probably wouldn't tell you what they had to do to get this to work. And I'll also add, the younger you go the better and easier it will be. My blue betta is older than my other 2 and I had a little more problem with her than my younger ones. All you gotta do is watch them closely for a week. After that if done the way I did it, it will work.

I agree that bettas get a raw deal. Even tanks sold for bettas are tiny. I have me betta in a community tank with 4 Angels and a school of 6 red eyed tetras. He's happy, healthy, beautifully red and has tons of room to swim around in.

I put my blue betta in with my angels and all they did is think it was shark bait so out she came. Poor girl. She's been back with the girls for about a wk now. All are doing great together. I just can't wait for a bigger tank. Gonna pick up a few males when I get the tank so they all meet at same time. I'll have my 10g set up just in case. I'll probably have to float the males a few times like I did with females. I might try to do a video for y'all so you can watch.

You said that you've done some research on bettas, but let me share an experience with you. I bred bettas once. I put a male and female alone in a 10 g tank and fed them well. Once the female became gravid with eggs, the male built a bubble nest and they spawned. I had to get the female out of the tank immediately. In the wild, the male chases the female away afterwards to care for the eggs and fry himself. In a 10 gallon tank, she couldn't go anywhere. He attacked her a couple of times before I got her out and would have killed her if I didn't. The next problem came when the fry got to be about 1/2 inch. The males were developing color and able to tell from the females. The males had to all be seperated by that time because they were already becoming territorial and biting each other's fins. So good luck with trying to keep many bettas in the same tank...especially if spawning occurs.

Yes, and this is what I'm trying to point out with this post. 10g with a male and a female only works for breeding or dividing the tank for one betta on each side. If you figure in the facts of space of a 55g tank with mostly females and only a few males, with lots of plants low light. Just like the water they came from to start, then it will work. I'm figuring 40-55gallon because it's a lot of space. But, thank you for sharing. Think if you would of had a 30 gallon you would've been able to keep them all in the same tank depending on how many baby's they had. If you watched the video you will see the baby's on the bottom of the tank along with males and females full grown on top.

I completely agree with you about the 10 gallon tank with breeding my bettas. The male was in a 55 gallon community tank originally. I bought and cycled the 10 gallon tank and then got the female specifically to try breeding bettas and I've already shared my experience. I don't doubt your experience with a group of bettas in a larger and well planted aquarium. I'm really glad that you have shared your experience so that I now know it's possible. Bettas are beautiful fish and I enjoy the one I have in my community tank. I unfortunately did not receive the video you posted. Not sure why. I would have loved to have seen it. Congratulations on your achievements.

What do you think. I got a 45 gallon with 2 powder blue dwarf gouramis, 4 glolight danios, 5 albino cherry barbs, and 5 neon tetras in a heavily planted tank. All those smaller fish move fast as stink. Temp is 24.5 celcius and ph is around 7.6. I’d like to rescue a single beta. Do you think this tank would work out ok for him?IMG_0143.jpg

You have a good set up. As long as the filter system is no fast flowing a betta would love it.

I don't forsee any problems with you putting a betta in that tank at all. All the fish you mentioned shouldn't bother the betta at all and the conditions seem fine. I put my betta in with 4 large angel fish. One came up to investigate the betta and he flared his gill covers at the angel fish as if to say "bring it on". The angel fish just swam away and everything has been great for months now. Go ahead...give the betta some swimming room.

I went to the city today and got a filter. I got a big one because I'll be getting a bigger tank anyways and didn't want to waste money on another little one. 20180326_195514.jpgit's over kill on this tank but, I like these filters for the adjustable flow. I have it on the lowest setting. Took the cartridge out of the out her one and it have a new one on the other side so it will be aready cycled. Now my angelfish in the other 10g has that other filter again and with a new cartridge. Looking at getting my new tank this week, I hope. Fingers crossed! Gonna order some more plants if I can find good ones. Seems like the last batch I got where not that great. So, gonna be a little more picker with plants. You get what you pay for, that's for sure. Anyways, when I get my tank I'll get a few more girls too. If they have them. [emoji4]
