Just a tidbit of information on pH and why it is always pH and not PH, ph, or Ph. pH derives from the German phrase “potenz Hydrogen” meaning the concentration of hydrogen ions in the solution. Since nouns are always capitalized in German, it’s always pH, even at the beginning of a sentence.
