3/4 play wood overlapping tank by 1/2 inch each side between tank stand and the tank. Unfortunately all of the load is distributed around the frame, so it is not a good idea to have it overhanging. plywood must be waterproofed, so that it does not swell over time.

Take it from an engineer: the floor not being able to support 55g tank issue is nonsense. The only thing you need to watch for is that the tank length is across the floor beams. This way a 4 foot long tank weight spreads over at least 3 beams that are at least 2x8 and most likely 2x10 wood...
