    Another quick angelfish question.....

rainbows being so quick will starve angels. I had to remove mine to different tank. It was a toss between overfeeding the tank so that angels would eat or have a healthy tank with species of equal swimming habit (rainbows are ok with clown loaches). I also have emerald catfish in the same tank...

    new tank new snais!

Now that you have clown loaches, watch the snails disappear. They are loaches best treat. In a couple of weeks no one will be left alive, you will have lots and lots of small shells that you need to get rid off so that your hardness does not go up. Snails were the reason why I bought clowns in...

    Large clown loaches

I have bought 3 very small clown loaches almost 3 years ago and by now the biggest one is 4.5 inch long (more or less). It will take another at least 3 years for them to outgrow 55g. For 75 g tank add another year. I would just buy at least 3 and enjoy them. Most of the time people change fish...

With the arrival of the dog, need to sell one tank, no time for it all. 29g planted mature tank for sale, sand, plants grow like weed. Pair of angels lay eggs every 3 weeks on the button. Fish as per signature. East GTA, Ontario. E-mail if interested, photos available...

More tank & tank stand questions...

3/4 play wood overlapping tank by 1/2 inch each side between tank stand and the tank. Unfortunately all of the load is distributed around the frame, so it is not a good idea to have it overhanging. plywood must be waterproofed, so that it does not swell over time.

    55 gallon tank no more!

Take it from an engineer: the floor not being able to support 55g tank issue is nonsense. The only thing you need to watch for is that the tank length is across the floor beams. This way a 4 foot long tank weight spreads over at least 3 beams that are at least 2x8 and most likely 2x10 wood...

all angelfish fry dead (8 days from hatching)

thanks for reply. water was taken from the tank they were floating in, so water would be the same they spawned in with the difference of O2 depletion and LFF rotting. This is why I kept changing water every day so that water would be clean. Is it possible to raise angel fry on LFF alone? Next...

    Anyone live in a trailer?

Make sense but you are not standing there still for years. Check any floor in any old house. Floor is sagging between beams, you can tell if you put straight edge across the beams. Other than manufacturer specification of the max load, I would buy couple of beams and double it up from...

all angelfish fry dead (8 days from hatching)

I had 10 angelfish fry in 1 litre container floating in the tank. 3 days after they were free swimming they all died (same evening) I changed 80% of water in the container every day, water taken the main tank (planted). I suspect that the food was the problem. So here is the question: Is...

    CO2 system

Agree with Vega, My water is hard and with high buffers (GH, KH) so I am not worry about pH dropping a little (actually drops 0.2 pH). To start the reaction faster I use: Warm water (2-3 teaspoons with high concentration of sugar. Add 1 flat teaspoon of grocery yeast, mix. Set aside for 10 min...

    CO2 system

I have yeast CO2 in both 55g and 29g and I do not need pressurized system. Plants are growing like mad in both tanks, I sell back plants to lfs every month or so. I have single Hagen ladder but I also have 2 liter soda bottle for the container and I run it through ½ liter bottle with just water...

All out angelfish war in the tank!!!!

Ok, the war is over. The result is one stress female and one angry male attacking everybody. I had to sell back to lfs pearls and place the second pair of angels in my 29g with corys. My take out of it: once angels pair up, plan to keep only one pair per tank unless you have like 90 g plus with...

All out angelfish war in the tank!!!!

Well then, I will try to separate the two spawning places with some deep floating plants I can take from another tank. Plants have 7 inch long roots hanging down, that will separate the two eggs clusters. I think I will remove one pair, I can not use divider permanently, since there are clown...

All out angelfish war in the tank!!!!

Sorry guys, I updated my profile. I have two pairs of angels. trouble is they decided to lay eggs all at the same time and at the same spot (almost) So now what? Should I interrupt the mating or let it be?

All out angelfish war in the tank!!!!

Yesterday a pair of angels laid eggs on giant val leaf. This is in the center of the tank. Today the other pair is just laying eggs in the same tank. The spot they choose is less than a foot away from the other cluster of eggs. There is a lot of chasing and display of aggression from both the...

    Monthly Ich problem???

It has been said many times that Ich can not exist without a host, so once wiped out from the tank, the tank is considered ich free unless: some water gets there from some other tank with ich (plants) or the fish with ich is introduced. Looks to me like you do not wipe out ich entirely (treating...

    Calling all ich gurus again......

thanks for reply Is it possible for a cyst not to burst for 4 weeks (or longer) in 78 deg? If yes, this is ich, if not, then it is not. It has never happened to me yet like this.

    Calling all ich gurus again......

More than 4 week ago I saw three white spots on the tail fin of one of my angels. I did not panic and did not put any meds in, I was not sure if it was ich, but it looked like it. In the mean time this angel spawned. The same 3 spots are still on his tail, after nmore then 4 weeks. 2 weeks ago...

Panda corys are my favorite cory ever!!!

I have 6 c. bilineatus. Bought them few weeks ago and they surprised me by spawning a week after I bought them. Now they spawned the second time in 29g where they were placed after qt for 3 weeks and as of Sunday we have wigglers in the net, eggs hatched! I also have 4 cory trilineatus (looks...

    S.A.E. with Otos and angels

Lots of algae, this is why I am adding them. I am also adding 6 Otos to my 29g, to a total of 11 Otos in 29g, if I am to add two SAE in 55g. Or I can add one SAE into each tank with 3 new Otos. Current cleaning force is not adequate. Otos eat a lot, but do not have scrubbing power, too small for...

    S.A.E. with Otos and angels

I bought 2 SAE,(Crossocheilus Siamensis) to help my 9 Otos in 55g planted keep the algae under control. I have red that SAE is restless fish. So, considering angelfish in my 55g, Should I put 2 of SAE in the tank or just one? Would one harass other fish less then 2 of them or 2 of them will keep...
