    Feeding whilst on holiday

I'm due to go away shortly for a week and have just realised what am I going to do with my fish! I have a 17g closed lid tank with assorted freshwater fish, guppies, platy, dwarf gourami, snails, shrimp etc. Question is, can anyone recommend any automatic feeders, slow release food that would...

    Nitrites to Nitrates

I squeezed one of the sponges into the 33g some 3 months ago, that was enough to seed it. 17g Filter is an aqua one 102, suitable for up to 20g. As of today, stock in the 17g is: 1 dwarf gourami 3 oto 3 guppy 1 platy 2 Pygmy cory Shrimp and snails I have removed 5 cardinal and 5 harlequins...

    Nitrites to Nitrates

17g was set up as a fish in cycle-my 1st ever tank. 33g was seeded from the 17g and has never seen a massive spike of any kind. Temperature of both tanks are 25C. I always use dechlorinator during water changes and use tapwater, which is soft in my area. I am always careful not to introduce...

    Nitrites to Nitrates

Ph is stable in both tanks at 7.4, never seen a ph crash in either tanks. 33g has sand bought from pets at home, not sure what type it is but very fine. 17g has black pea sized smooth gravel also from the lfs.

    Nitrites to Nitrates

I have been running 2 tanks side by side for some 4 months now, 33g and 17g. I cannot seem to get get the 17g cycled. I always have nitrite show up after 4-5 days. I have even moved the much larger filter from the 33g to the 17g, this has made no difference. Incidentally the 33g is still doing...

    All change....

I simply cannot bare to get rid of the male blue dwarf gourami. He's just starting to show his colours beautifully....so that's a tick The guppys can go....even the 2 pregnant females :( Harlequins seem far to active for the smaller tank.....so they should go Platy has been with me since day...

    All change....

Yes, I've looked into that option, but rehoming the fish is much cheaper! ;) Its sad because they all bring a little something, and I don't want to part with any :(

    All change....

The wife has decided that I have to get rid of my 33g tank :( and I can only keep my 17g. Apparent this is more 'fashionsble' for the new kitchen we are having. I now have to decide which fish to keep and which to rehome. So here's the total stock of both tanks. 2 yoyo loaches 1 female platy 1...

    GBRs ! ! !

Stunning fish! I was thinking of getting some of these....and that has made my mind up! I was worried how my dwarf gourami would react.

    Yay! Yoyos!

I inherited 2 yoyos when I bought my 33g. Very fun fish and not nippy at all. They just swim together and chase each other all around the tank. I've read that at least 3 is the magic number, but I think I will stick to 2 tbh.

    Shrimp ID

Thanks, i was just looking some of the others in the batch. Some of them are a lot lighter, smaller and almost clear. Perhaps I have a mixture of amano and ghost! Or maybe they just need to mature.

I suppose I could have a mix of ghost and amanos. I will study them later and post more pics. Thanks to everyone who has replied :)

    Shrimp ID

I got them for £1 each, but this wasn't the owner of the shop. I asked of they were ghost, he said yes. Another guy, about 12!, piped in that they were amanos.
