    Dont worry about the bio-wheel not spinning constantly, as long as it rotates and is kept moist, bacteria will grow on it 8)

    Not at all, never had any problems bringing fish / accesories in to Mexico. I could buy from the LFS here in Tijuana, but the selection is not that great and the prices sometimes are about $1 US more

    Neon Tetra Survival Rate

    I think is the way the LFS keep their tanks. Most likely they just use the local tap water and some dechlorinators and thats it. Our water is very hard PH 7.4+, which for keeping neons is surprising since all the bibliography say they are a soft water species 8O go figure.

    Big Bucket, long hose, dechlorinator, water vaccum. Change 20-25% of the water weekly while vaccuming the gravel and replacing with fresh water using a dechlorinator. Neuve, de que parte de Mexico eres?

    Fluorite should be rinse IMO until the water is semi clear, because if you keep washing it you will remove the iron from it, then put in the tank, cover it with a layer of regular gravel and gently pour the water into the tank.     You cant go wrong with the All Glass Aquarium 110W kit and their 9725 (?) kelvin bulbs, they will give you about 2.25W per gallon, more then enough for ferns, anubias, swords, crypts 8)

    CF lighting question

    Which is better for a 36L x 18W x 16H aquarium… one 36” 96W CF or 2 22” 55W CF ? I’m not trying to grow a jungle, but a fairly well planted aquascape with some neons, guppies, platys, mollies, corys and ottos, also my substrate consists of 3/5 fluorite and 2/5 gravel Thanks for your advise :P

    Sure, but you are close (relatively speaking) to Florida and Maryland, i would think that going all the way to the other coast there might be some damage but <shrugs> :(
