    20-gallon high (med/high-light) planted

New arrangement after some replanting. Neons are doing well - many of them seem to have nipped fins but the tigers are bothering them less and less. I hope this new aquascape will prove more conducive for the fish playing nicely...

    20-gallon high (med/high-light) planted

Got 6 neon tetras and a windelov java fern today! I split up the fern and attached/wedged it in different driftwood pieces. The lady at the store threw in some tiny snails for me for free too, so I'll see how long it takes for them to start reproducing like mad. My tiger barbs are kindof...

    20-gallon high (med/high-light) planted

I have 5 right now. I'm debating getting more of another kind of fish like neon tetras or gouramis or just keeping the barbs and getting at max 3 more, considering they grow to 3".

    20-gallon high (med/high-light) planted

Yeah, I was definitely considering those last time I went to the store. I'll get some vals and maybe a couple more tigers the next time I visit my LFS. I have 2 14-watt T5 bulbs (one 6700K and the other 10000K) and one 15-watt T8 bulb (not sure of the color temperature, but it's made by GE and...

    20-gallon high (med/high-light) planted

Yep. Well all of my plants are doing well! The stem plants have been taking a while to take root, but after this weekend (I was away for a beach trip) they all have started to root a little. My fish are all doing well, except one tiger barb seems to have slightly pale or discolored scales...

    20-gallon high (med/high-light) planted

Not that I know of. It's actually a stem plant. http://www.aquaticplantcentral.com/forumapc/plantfinder/details.php?id=93

    20-gallon high (med/high-light) planted

A couple updates: I bought a piece of Malaysian driftwood from my LFS today and boiled it for a couple hours. My other piece of driftwood that was not sinking earlier is now much more waterlogged and will stay on the the aquarium floor. I set up my DIY CO2 bottle and made a recipe last...

    New 45 gallon tank

Is it heavily decorated or planted? If not, it shouldn't be much of a problem since those fish are pretty small. Cardex is right, mollies will reproduce pretty easily so you will want to watch out for pregnant mothers! I've heard that for freshwater tanks, a good rule of thumb is that you...

    20-gallon high (med/high-light) planted

Any particular reason for nerites over mystery snails? I've read mystery snails are hardier, more accessible, and will eat scraps, but nerites prefer hard water and are more picky eaters.

    20-gallon high (med/high-light) planted

Thanks, I will try to do it for a couple hours later this week! Right, I had snails in my last tank and I was waiting for this shipment of plants to see if I would get any snails, but no luck. I haven't had cories before - would they be sufficient for algae maintenance on their own?

Sounds good! Keep us updated with how that works out!

    20-gallon high (med/high-light) planted

Hey AA! So after over 2 years, I have returned to start up my tank again - I had to take down my tank at the end of high school because I couldn't have a tank in my dorm, but now I am living off campus so I decided to pick up the hobby again! This round, I decided to try using higher light - I...

    20 gallon high

Maybe zebra danios? I kept a betta in my tank for a sibling for a couple weeks with some zebra danios and I think some cherry barbs and neon tetras? Anyways, the betta was fine and the smaller fish didn't pester or nip at him.

    New Driftwood Piece

Where'd you get that? Awesome find - looks good.

    My 125 planted

Any recent pics of the plants? I know your last picture was over a month ago and I'd give a couple suggestions but I don't know if your aquascape is the same still.

    what plants should i get?

I don't know if you felt that your earlier question was answered fully, but in my experience, the bamboo can live but the mondo grass will not live long-term underwater. I don't believe mondo grass is a true aquatic plant.

    New to Plants

The elastic bands shouldn't be too tight, because the rhizome can grow over and around the band. However, I would use a more porous or rough-edged stone or rock to grow the anubias on; it would take a long time for that plant to attach to the stone.

    Survey on tank cleaning.

I am in the process of re-setting up my 20 gallon high medium-light planted tank. In the past, when my planted tank was fully established with about 15 small fish and pretty densely planted, I would do a 30-40% water change every 2 weeks or so, perhaps a little bit more time. I had a lot of...

    Pank's Planted 55g

Awesome scape! The mixture of driftwood and lots of stones looks great. I think some anubias on your driftwood/stones would be a good idea, and then lining the back with a row of corkscrew vals would look really great! You could plant some shorter bunch plants throughout the mid- and foreground...

Sick Serpae Tetras - Unidentified Contagious Disease?

Not very good pictures, sorry. Tried to zoom in as much as I could. The resolution isn't the best when it's this zoomed in, and the glare makes it harder to see, but this is my worst-looking fish. The fish is discolored (has a dark color, even maroon-ish), and the section of its body...

    WTB FW live plants

that's probably less than 1 watt/gallon, so you will be limited in your choices. I suggest talking to mgamer20o0 and he might be able to make a low-light plant package. Or, you can look up low-light plant packages already offered in the classifieds here (look for plants like java moss, java...

Finally took some pics of my 55g planted with homemade stand.

I have heard that goldfish don't do well in planted tanks just because they easily uproot the plants when scavenging through the gravel and such. But I may be wrong! Hope things go well for you; your tank looks good.
