    Eating Fish?

I like eating fish that don't look like fish. Like fish sticks, fish steaks, fish fillets... When I was a kids having parents from the carribean we would eat fish all the time, and I would have to cut fish heads off (anyone remember the fish heads song???) and scale them.

    Aquarists - Please unite!

Wow, see what happens when I am sick and laid up in bed. I like both letters. Hopefully no fashionista will wear something like this and use common sense (common sense and fashionista in the same sentence). When anyone gets a reply please do post it.

    Pea Gravel/River Gravel as substrate?

Is anyone presently using pea gravel/ river gravel (like the stuff found in your local HD garden department) as substrate. And how is it working out for the stock in your tank? Anything you don't like about it?

    Fish for the dining room

Truthfully, I don't think I am interested in cichlids right now (again except of angelfish). I have a planted tank in the living room and I agree that it is great. I don't think I would do it in the dining room though. As for the betta, I was considering it, but with all the die offs with...

    Fish for the dining room

The new 30L is going to be put in the dining room. I for the life of me don't know who/what I want to put in there. I figured if it is going to be in the dining room they should be peaceful/active fish with a touch of color. I don't think I want to do cichlids (outside of angelfish). Any ideas...

    Some macroshots from my yard.

How weird...I have cardinals and bluejays in my backyard and yesterday I vowed to learn how to use my digital camera properly. I can sort of use macro but nothing like I've seen on the forum. Maybe we should have a support circle for those of use who need to pick up the manual. LOL. Great shots...

    Starting my first tank

I swear whenever I see your handle I'm going to get hungry! I think you are on a great track with the 29. It gives you room to learn and expand if you so choose. As for planted tanks I think it is a personal preference. I think if you want to have a planted tank you should do some research on...

    Tetra species in question

I don't think it is a serpae tetra. After doing more research I've come to the conclusion that it is a Pristella maxillaris (aka X-ray fish, aka Pristella). I looked up the serpae though (Hyphessobrycon eques), and that is definately not the fish I have. But thank you for trying to help. :)

    Tetra species in question

I have a school of silver tip tetra in my tank. After looking at other tanks on the web to find a suitable bottow dweller I saw a tetra that I thought was my tetra, but they don't have the same name. So I went searching, finding I am unable to make a firm decision I've come here. Is this a...

    Heater: Horizontal or vertical?

I'm vertical. I can bring myself to horizontal. Maybe I should slowly put it on the angle till it is horizontal. But I figured since I had the huge HOB a vertical heater couldn't be worse.

    im so happy.

You think it is a joke amongst shellfish that molt? The first time I ever saw my peppermint shrimp molt I swore he had died of starvation. I was sooo bummed and a few minutes later I saw a very much alive shrimp scamping across the tank. I'm sure if he could, he would have had a good giggle at...

Fishes that benefit from a longer tank?

I found this tank very heavy to carry. My Dh has left for work for a few months so I had to lug the tank in by myself. I am dreading carrying it out to the patio tomorrow. I think I am going to put it in my dining room when all is said and done. So many possibilities. I just can't wait.

Fishes that benefit from a longer tank?

I just bought a new long tank. The measurements say it should hold 30 gal of water. It is 3 feet long. I have a planted 29 right now and this new tank seem to be 6 inches longer than that one. Is there any specific type of fish that would benefit from a long tank?
