    feeding frozen bloodworms.

I use a small fish net. I place some tank water in a plastic container and put the cube of worms into the fish net and submerge it until it thaws. I then remove the net and put it in the tank and just turn the net inside out. The worms are released and the use of the net is an easy way to...

    tbar cichlids

I've been looking for these guys with no success in my region. Any chance you'd wanna part with a few of those 9 and ship em down to Kingston? If you get a pair and wanna sell off some, let me know. I've been looking for Sajica and rainbow cichlid to go with my pair of Nicaraguensis...

    South American 90Gal Stock List

It's funny you mention Nics. I have a 90 gal with a breeding pair of these beauties. My fave fish that I have. IMO, they are a great cichlid because they become a good size (males up around 10"), are less aggressive than many centrals, and have really understated beauty. They do take a bit...

    South American 90Gal Stock List

Even with a 90 gal you are gonna be way overstocked IMO, AND have issues with aggression. If you want to keep fish that big i'd pick maybe 3 tops for a 90 gallon. You're also gonna wanna drop out the jag and maybe even the GT from that list. They will likely get too aggressive for the sevs...

    SA cichlid impulse buy...advice needed.

I recently finally got around to setting up my 90 gal aquarium. I had always thought about doing GTs but had never run across any in my LFS. I also fell in love with rainbowfish and intended on stocking a large school of them with other community fish. Prior to my impulse purchase, my 90 gal...

New idea to safely lower pH?

The vinegar thing is a debateable one. I've heard of some people and know of one guy over on FishGeeks that is doing exactly that. He is using the vinegar to lower his pH which is over 8 out of the tap. He first heard of this as a possible means of generating a lower pH with the added benefit...

    GOOD DVD burning program

Another option is actually from the same company that make DVD X Copy...it's their "EXPRESS" version. It allows a feature film to be backed up onto a single dvd. HOwever, it does this by eliminating the dvd extras and menu system and includes the movie itself only. If you're not one to care...

Which is heavier, O2 or CO2?

Bill...THE best one in town would be Roy's Pet Shop on Middle Road. It's actually just out of town off highway 15. Best prices on tanks in town, knowledgeable, etc. I've heard of people driving several hours just to go there. Aside from Roy's, you might check out Pet Paradise on Bath road...

Which is heavier, O2 or CO2?

Lets think about this on a molecular level...essentially CO2 is exactly the same as O2 except that it has a Carbon attached. That Carbon atom has a certain atomic weight. Therefore, C02 is heavier by whatever the atomic weight of Carbon is.

    Dwarf Gourami or Cories?

Thanks for the input. I just wanted something a little more substantial than the danios/barbs which are pretty small...something I can see without putting my nose to the glass..which is why i thought maybe the gourami might be good.

    Dwarf Gourami or Cories?

I have a 10 gallon that is soon to be cycled completely. The tank has 3 zebra danios and 2 cherry barbs at present time. I was thinking I would like to add something once the tank is fully cycled. I am seeking some advice as to what I might add. OPtion 1: A dwarf gourami OPtion 2: a couple...

    Water temperature

I'd be more inclined to believe ur thermometer is accurate and the heater is not. My heater shows a temp setting of about 74 but my digital thermometer shows the temp to actually be about 78. What brand of heaters have accurate thermostats anyway? I need a new one for my 90 gallon and am...

    Filter/lighting Q

I acquired a used 90 gal (48x18x24) that i'd like to set up as a planted tank. The tank came with an AC 500 filter and a NO 40 watt strip light. I have a few equipment questions regarding an additional filter and PC lighting for the future setup. I realize I will need additional filtration...
