Rummynose Tetra - please help I can't diagnose

Thanks, will try and pick some up tomorrow. Gave the few with symptoms a salt bath today. Other than the bumps and white blobs they are not showing any ill effects, even the ones showing symptoms i've had quarantined for the last two weeks, so hopefully with more aggresive treatment there will...

Rummynose Tetra - please help I can't diagnose

Thanks for the reply. The location seems random appearing anywhere on the side, top of head or belly of the fish, although the white parasite looking things seem to mostly be located at the base of either the dorsal or pectoral fins. This being my first aquarium i'm kind of surprised that this...

Rummynose Tetra - please help I can't diagnose

Hi all, I have a 29 gallon with 6 rummynose tetra, 6 silver tip tetra and 2 bolivian rams. Two weeks ago I noticed what looked like small clear ulcers on two of the rummynose tetra, one of which also seemed to have a small (1mm long) white parasite at the location of one of the ulcers and his...

Tetra with white spot on nose

yes that was my thought too but likewise have never seen it to know and couldn't quite find any images on google which looked the same. It doesn't look stringy but it does look like it is a growth rather than discoloration.

Tetra with white spot on nose

1~What type of fish is afflicted? In addition, please describe what is wrong with the fish to the best of your ability (i.e. cotton like growth, bloated, etc.). Two rummynose and one maybe two silver tip tetra from a total population of six of each are showing some kind of small white spot on...

    Help with algae

You have a very similar setup to me. Your lights are T5HO if 24W like you say? How do you have your light fixture mounted and what distance are the bulbs above the substrate?

    Advice on my setup please

Here's a couple of pics of my plants. The yellow/brown spots on the swords were already there when I purchased them, all new growth does not have this. Same with the black patches on the java fern.

    Tank Done Cycling?

Hi, i know you feel that pwc have not cut it so far but i really think its the solution. If levels got very high you will need to do a few as big as possible while still leaving sufficient water for your fry. Thinking about it, for each 50% pwc, theoretically you are cutting ammo, nitrite and...

    Booyah - Nitrates Baby

starting FISHLESS CYCLE - have questions

I would google the brand and see if others have used it for aquarium cycling. Also put some in a clear container and give it a really good shake. It should not have any foam after shaking.

Fishless Cycle Log/Rebuild - Take II

I believe with sand you just need to rake through it once in a while to prevent compaction which can lead to build up of toxins Here's a useful link i found: http://e0.aqua-fish.net/show.php?h=aquariumsand Sand generally needs A LOT of rinsing too....

Fishless Cycle Log/Rebuild - Take II

I know you were talking about live plants, you could choose Flourite black or black sand, although it could be pricey for a larger aquarium and maybe not worth it if it wasn't going to be moderately planted. Or alternatively there's carribean sea super naturals, there's a black tahitian moon...

    Am I ready for fish?

Your ammonia AND Nitrite must read zero 24 hours after adding ammonia before you are ready for fish. If Nitrite and Nitrate are off the scale you can consider a PWC to lower levels into the readable range. There is a very good thread on fishless cycling within this forum which will guide you well.

    how to do drip acclimation?

Just a question - when doing the drip acclimation method to you need to heat the water? they'll be out of any tank for an hour or so at least and the water temp will drop no? or does the drips from your tank keep the water the fish are in sufficiently high?

    Booyah - Nitrates Baby

Thanks - yep will ensure i have consistent full conversion of ammonia > nitrate for another few days before doing anything on the fish front. I better read up on acclimation!!! man there is a lot to learn but i'm enjoying it, i just think there must be so many people out there though just...
