    starting over

I have been battling a nasty case of fungus that systematically wiped out all of the fish in my 25 gal. I am at the point where I am going to have to start over fresh with new fish. My question is what I should do with a diseased tank? I don't want to infect any incoming fish, but I am also not...

    DIY CO@ success?

I am planning on setting up a cheap little CO2 system for my 15 gal. planted tank. I am just curious what others have had luck with? Any links so I can print out instructions would be wonderful!

    eclipse overheating!!!

I happened to touch the plug coming from my eclipse III lighting unit and burned myself. As I unplugged it I noticed that the square unit got so hot that it had actually become disfigured in some places. Has anyone else had this same problem? Now I am afraid to plug my lights in while I am not...

    convict cichlids bredding like flys

I left mine with the parents and had no problems. Plus, when they start breeding, they won't stop. Keeping them separate from the oscars is all I would worry about if you want them to stay around.

    python water change

When doing a water change with my python, do I have to add enough dechlorinator for the whole tank volume? I knew just how much to add when using three gallon buckets, but now do I have to treat the entire tank because there is no way to pre-treat the water?

    Greatest creation of all....

Hopefully I don't even have to get into the story of the time that I dumped an entire 5 gal. bucket of water (of course it was freshly removed from a dirty tank) on my apartment floor to tell you how worthwhile the Python is.

    magfloat

It is great for the algae that comes off easily, but I have had some problems getting spot algae off with it. Have to use a good old fashion scraper for that.

    new plant suggestions

I am looking to re-plant my 15 gal. due to algae problems that I let get way out of hand. Besides Java Fern (which is the only plant still doing fine in the tank), what other plants are relatively easy to keep. My watts per gal. are around 1.8. I am going to keep a much closer eye on levels that...

    is this lfs advice correct?

You could always use one of the specialty plant bulbs.

    python question

Python has all sorts of adapters top use. It even sells a universal adapter that uses a clamp to attach it to any width faucet without grooves (though it costs an extra $6 I believe). It comes with a male and female adapter though that will fit most faucets.

    Question about Vacuuming Gravel!

It is suggested to do them every other week at 10-20%. Don't bother taking out all of the plants and decorations. You can go around the plants (be careful with the root systems), and the objects can be temporarily moved around the tank.

    python question

To make a long story short, I have to get a 20 ft. extension for my 25ft python system. Has anyone used these extensions and will it drastically reduce the pressure I get when doing water changes?

    algae question

Yes 15 gal. 2.0 watts per. gal Compact flourescent retro fitted Nitrate and Phosphate both in acceptable ranges (according to the stickies that I already read) I have multiple tanks in which I am "keeping plants", just this particuluar one seems to be an algae magnet and I can't figure out why.

    algae question

I am having all sorts of trouble in my planted 15 gal. EVERYTHING is covered in green algae. The glass gets little spots (whaich are easily removed with my magfloat), and the driftwood and plants are consistently getting covered. I have unfortunately let it go long enough that I am going to have...

    wierd gourami coloring

More like the second picture. It has the bright coloring on the rest of its body, and then blotchy gray on certain parts

    wierd gourami coloring

I purchased one red and yellowish gourami (forgot the actual name of it) from petsmart about a week ago. Since being in my established 25 gal. community tank it has began to turn a greyish color on the top of its head and the bottom of its belly. It is not spotty or anything, it is more like he...

Best possible thing to move fish

One word of caution... be careful with what might have been in the cooler prior to your fish. It may not be a bad idea to line the inside with a large plastic bag. But yes, the wheels are a BIG plus.

    Driftwood... yea or nay?

Absolutely yes if you want to make your tank more natural.

    blue/green algae sheets

I have sheets of a blue/green algae that are covering everything from my plants, to my rocks, driftwood, and even gravel. Is there a common way to combat this problem? I have been using algae fix to no avail and am cleaning the darn tank for an hour or two each week removing blankets of this...
