    Brackish Puffer:- Fake Marine Tank

I was considering getting a figure eight puffer and setting it up in a 20 gallon made to look like a marine tank, with some fake coral, sand, and lava rock. Is a 20 gallon going to be big enough for a figure eight puffer on his own? Is there anything I could get to tackle algae for such a...

    Loach Availability?

I just bought 4 Angelicus loaches, having seen them at Petsmart for $20 I then happened to see them at Walmart for $6. I hate myself for buying fish from Walmart, but they are doing well so far and a saving of over $50 is not to be sniffed at.

    Gold Nugget Pleco

Yay! Well old Nuggles is doing great! Not only is he alive and thriving he also comes out and seems to be showing off! Never realized he would be such a great algae eater either! You know I am tempted to get another as he is so gorgeous, but I am stretching it on the stocking side as it is so I...

    Gold Nugget Pleco

Petsmart new stock $40, did I get ripped off? I think he is gorgeous and as shipping from online stores is $40 in itself it seemed a good idea, is there anywhere I could get one cheaper? I definetly want more!

    what to do with bob...

I would definetly go with the pond! A pleco is going to be fine in almost any Floridian pond, and if you give it about a month and preferably introduce him when the water temperature is as high as possible he will not be stressed by the change and will have plenty of time to acclimate to cooler...

    I told myself no more.

Some shrimp would do great, or maybe some plants with a couple of Ottos to keep the algae down etc. Those Eclipse tanks are great especially if you replace the standard flourescent bulb with a PC one and frow a few plants. Currently I have the Eclipse 5 corner tank with 3 small Sword plants a...

Furry black leaf edges....What can I do to get rid?

Ahh sorry, normal comes with tank bulb, no CO2, all levels optimum etc. Its a 55 with relatively high stocking of fish, and quite heavily planted, I know it shouldn't really work but all my swords have flourished...Just these furry leaf edges....

Furry black leaf edges....What can I do to get rid?

This fairly innocuous furry looking algae has covered the edges of my Sword plants leaves, it is very thin, and barely noticable...but it is more noticable because it is so discrete if you see what I mean... I was wondering if anybody has any suggestions to get rid of this? I have Otto's in...

    Petco Plants in Gel

That might well be the case I know I had some gold ribbon previously which died....That is the one complaint I have that these plants do not give adequate info on the packageing. Truth to tell the packageing actually looks like it was knocked out in some guys basement, not the normal proffesion...

    Petco Plants in Gel

Has anyone else tried these things? I think they are amazing! For those who have not seen them they are sold in a plastic tube with no water, only the roots are covered in this clear gel stuff. The plants are gorgeous and look spectacular in my tanks, they come snail free, and you generally...

Considering Fluval 404 for 55 gallon any opinions?

I am thinking of picking upa Fluval 404 for $100, from my local Petsmart, on sale. This would be for my community 55 gallon which is currently running 2 Emperor 400's. Would this be overkill? Should I perhaps consider temporarily retireing one of the 400's and getting the Fluval? $100...

I would like an Elephant nose...but

Thanks for the input guys! The links were great, I do worry that feeding any fish just blood worms would be insufficient, I have read some take flake....Hmmm, very tempting... What does everyone think about my stocking level though? I do not want to overstock even for such a cool fishy.

I would like an Elephant nose...but

I have fallen in love with Elephant Noses, they are gorgeous and I love the idea of placing a tinfoil ball in for them to play with! Which I read you can do, its electric properties make it attractive to their weak electric organ... But I would be placing it in a 55 gallon with, 1 Angel, 2...

    Help me stock a tank

How about some form of Tetra, I would recommend Flame Tetras as they are hardy cheap and gorgeous, and Ghost Shrimp for clean up crew. I love watching Ghost Shrimp they are so comical, they will not reproduce in your tank, and they only cost about 30 cents each. Also if you wanted some more...

Worried about my Bargain Red Eyed Tetras

:( Yes I sippose so! Loathe to return any though they are so fun! I may just have to dust off the 20 gallon for them. They are currently tiddlers so they ought to be alright in there for a while at least...Maybe I can get a new 55 Gallon....Hmmm.

Worried about my Bargain Red Eyed Tetras

Hey everbody, I recently picked up a bargain from Petsmart (boo, hiss I know, but my local store has always been pretty good, close and cheap) I got 8 red eyed tetras for 8 dollars, which I thought was pretty good. The problem is I have been reasearching and it seems they grow to 7cm long...

I got a ten ga, tank and I want a betta

You definetly do not want anything that has the words algae eater in its name. Otocinclus Cats are great algae eaters and I doubt the betta will bother them...Maybe two Ottos and two Albino Cories? I say Albinos as they are the easiest to find variety that has small growth....According to...

    R.I.P Mr Whippy

Well sadly my favourite fish died...Poor Mr Whippy  he seemed to be doing so well, he doubled in size in the 3 months I had him and was always the first one on last one off of the zuccinni... I wish I knew what caused his demise, I put some fish fresh from the QT tank in just before he...

    Pleco disease, help appreciated.

Hey guys my Red Whiptail Pleco has a kind of white lump over one eye, the other is still the same, he seems to be behaving very erratically, and it is possible that his stomach is a little swollen, although I am not sure about that last bit. Any ideas? He is a beautiful and much loved fish who...

    stocking 150g - Tetras

To be honest I think you could have quite a few more fish, amybe even twice as many Neons and still be understocked, the 1" of fish per gallon rule is rubbish when it comes to small tetras IMO. Unless of course gravel vaccing is going to be a problem with it beimng heavily planted or something.
