    Cole's Rescape

Alright guys I'm getting super stoked to rescape my tank!! I've been running miracle grow substrate with gravel cap, up until recently a single sat+ and now dual sat+, with penguins 100+150 bio wheel filters and no co2. I now have the co2 tank regulator and am waiting to fill the tank. I will be...

    Questions about ADA AquaSoil Amazonia

I was also thinking about getting a new substrate I've heard amazonia leaches (nitrate?) and I was considering using this, would it be safe to put my fish back in immediately or would there be down time? Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Surface diruption/flow

So I'm working with a 60 gallon tank and I have been using a fluval 406 canister and aquaclear 50 powerhead and the powerhead claimed it's third and possibly 4th victim today. I'm curious if I need the disruption and flow or will the canister be sufficient? Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium...

    Siamese Algae Eater

I have a 60 gallon aquarium filled with african cichlids mostly mbunas and I just acquired 2 roughly 5-6in siamese algae eaters. too large for my 25g planted (where they're currently at), would it be out of the question to put them in the cichlid tank? I will have to rehome them otherwise. I...

    Massive Aquarium

Okay hopefully I can get some responses quick because in an hour I'll be going to pick up what looks like a 6'x2'x2' aquarium. It's still full of fish and plants what is my best mode of transportation for the living things? Also would an aquarium be able to be placed outside and run without...

    Guppy Fry

I have 2 very pregnant female guppies and I was curious if I leave them in the community tank what are the odds any will survive tank mates include tiger barbs dwarf Gourami's and an african brown knife fish (I know with a stock like this the odds go way down). Tank is fairly well planted. I...

    Heavy breathing troubleshoot

I have 22 african cichlids in my 60 gallon aquarium. I had the tank filtered with an emperor 400 pro series hob and a fluval 406 canister. When I removed the hob (it was very loud and a hastle) the fish seem to have started breathing a bit heavy and white bacteria has suddenly appeared on the...

    Noob lighting question

I have an sat+ on my 25g which I think is roughly 20" tall would adding another light increase my PAR levels deeper in the tank? Second question, would it be more beneficial to set up pressurized co2 or go with light #2? Honestly leaning toward co2 at the moment because I've yet to see the...

    Best ferts, co2, root tabs

I'm not much of a diy guy (tend to mess things up and get frusturated) so in all of your guys/girls experience what are your favorite/most reliable pressurized co2 systems, best root tabs and favorite liquid ferts? Sent from my iPhone using Aquarium Advice

    Johanni hold?

All my fish are young, I'd say most are roughly 3" so this could be just wishful thinking... I have a johanni thats face looks swollen and didn't eat much if anything at my before bed feeding. it's been hanging out under the filter heads the last couple times I've been around to watch and I'm...

    Red Empress Fading!

I turned on my lights this morning and my empress seems to have faded significantly over the last few days Fully colored he's beautiful but right now he's looking kind of dull in comparison. sorry the pic is kind of bad he's on a tirade right now. It's definitely the dominate fish in the tank...

    Red empress fading

So I don't know what's going on with my empress he's the dominate fish in the tank and his color is fading! It's about time for a a wc could that be the issue? I know some of you have seen it before but if you haven't this was him about a week or two ago.

    25gallon post rescape

As the title mentions I just rescaped my 25g. I'm feeling as though it's looking a bit plant less as I'm going for a heavily planted tank. What would be some cool plants I could float and a good foreground plant. Currently I have a Bulb with two small leaves of the red lotus in the back right...

    Bumblebee catfish

I have 2 of these which are getting almost to their full size and have been destroying my planted community tank, I was curious if they'd become punching bags in my malawi tank or even be able to survive the ph? They're nocturnal which seems pretty common for most catfish and are awesome at...

    Jewel cichlids

I just witnessed a brawl between my jewels. I have two, and I'm beginning to fret I sexed them incorrectly. What should my course of action be? They've been "mouth wrestling" for about 15 minutes and when broken up seek each other out to continue the brawl.

    Unusual kenyi behavior

I have a male kenyi that is yellow and far from dominate in the tank and it keeps getting chased around and pushed into hiding by the females. What could be the cause of this backward seeming aggression?

    Snails

I was curious if mbunas would kill snails? Kinda thought it would be cool to have a couple if so which would be the best?

    25g planted aquarium stocking

I currently have a heavily planted 25 gallon aquarium. I was thinking a cool stock would be to have a couple of guppies 6 maybe? A school of 14ish neon tetras, a pair of apistos or kribs if I can get my hands on them and my african brown knife. Would this be too much or would the pair just kill...

    Bettas

First off, I want no one to take this the wrong way. But what is the deal, why are they so popular, I used to have one about 10 years ago in a bowl (I know it's bad). I didn't find it as fantastic as people make them seem. What's your story and why do you (dis)/like bettas thanks everyone in...

    African Cichlid Diet

I know that mbuna species eat almost exclusively algae in the wild, while haps and peacocks occasionally eat smaller fish and invertebrates. Would it be bad to feed frozen brine shrimp to mbuna every once in a while or would it be best to just feed spirulia based flakes/pellets?

    Mbuna behavior

So I don't know how many of you watch the walking dead... *spoiler alert* But if you do you know that if you cut a zombies arms and jaw off they have no reason to pursue you. Would the *"same"* mentality apply to mbuna if you removed the things which they fight for? Territory and ladies ...

    Haps/peacocks w/ mbunas

I have a 60 gallon tank stocked with 14 mbunas and 2 jewel cichlids the tank is currently being filtered with a fluval 406 canister and I was curious if it would be unadvisable to add 1 peacock/hap to the tank. I think having one larger fish cruising about would be pretty cool but won't do it if...

    Canister filters

I am considering adding a canister filter on top of my emperor 400 hob filter (w/ spray bars) for my 60 gallon mbuna tank. Is it overkill and if not any pointers would be AWESOME because I've never dealt with one before. What medias should I use in it etc. etc.

    Cichlid Territories and Agression

So I was curious, all my fish are sub adult and I have 1 kenyi that has taken over a solid third of my 60gallon. If I break up his cave or territory will he calm down become agitated or just take over a new spot? Some of the fish are starting to show nipped fins and I believe he is the culprit...
