To me it sounds like your tank Is not cycling, when u talked about removing the filters r u removing all the filter media and replacing it every month?

Ok I just euthanized him :( even though he was a small little fish it was still pretty hard to put him down:( but on the bright side everyone else is looking healthy and hopefully will stay that way for a while(knocking on wood), thanks for the help guys.

Ok I'm going to euthanize him, will this affect any of my other fish since they won't be able to eat him after he dies?

I used pool filter sand for my 30 and my 10 and it's great! It is cheap too, it was around $10 for a 50 lbs bag. Any pool supply store around u should have it.

My favorite is my male neon dwarf rainbowfish. sorry the pics arnt great he is really quick and it's hard to get a good shot of him.

I would bail on the boesmani rainbows, as said before thy need a bigger tank than what u have, I have the same size tank as you an have a school if neon dwarf rainbow fish and they are awesome and would definitely work in your tank!
