My betta has an odd lump by the start of its tail

My betta has this odd lump on the start of its tail which makes the tail kinda turn to one side, the fish also has difficulty swimming up for food and has been slowly getting thinner and weaker.

One corner of unfilled tank not Flush on stand.

Hey bud, welcome to the forum. I don't see an attachment, but maybe I'm just being silly. In my experience, tanks (especially those bought from brands commonly held in pet stores) don't always sit completely flush. My 40B and 55 had slight problems with that before. Some people use styrofoam...

do my angelfish fry need a power pump

Doing so also allows the water to be more aerated while being gentler than a powerhead.

do my angelfish fry need a power pump

Not necessarily, you dont want to blow them away or anything. A sponge filter that is powered by an air pump would likely be sufficient and also serve the purpose of filtering the water effectively.

    Water Hardness

My tap TDS in Folsom, California is around 30-40. It is really dependent on your water supply and your pipes.

    Water Hardness

An RO/DI unit is a filtration unit that essentially removes solids from the water and you get really pure water. It is largely unnecessary in freshwater tanks unless you are going for something you are trying to accomplish that would prefer softer water - like discus. In salt water tanks its...

Didn't realize I was replying to such an old thread... my bad

Alien or prehistoric looking freshwater plants, sponges or bryozoan for an aqarium?

I like the triops idea! You might want to run a second tank so you can breed them however as they aren't the most long lived species.

Globe Tank for a friend-Filtration, Heating, and Lights

For example, you could house a ugf in a bigger, say 3-4 inch pvc pipe and that would make a cylinder with enough room to house a heater as well. With a pipe that diameter you could also do diy filtration with a pump which pumps water out of the top and some slits on the side, near the bottom and...

    Lonely snail

You would probably save money getting a 5 gallon or 10 gallon, depending how much the kit would run you. But as the poster above me said, most snails don't need too much room. A 5 or 10 gallon would give you flexibility if you ever wanted to get back into the hobby a bit, with a couple of fish...

Globe Tank for a friend-Filtration, Heating, and Lights

If you go with ugf, you could run a center column or some kind of wall/divider which can either be flat or curved and run all of your cords through there. Hiding all of the filtration/heating within a column or behind a wall should keep it looking clean.

    Water Hardness

Peat moss, especially in relation to price, will do the job much more effectively than driftwood. Having some driftwood is nice though, so the purchase serves two ends.

    Water Hardness

You could buy it at most hardware-type stores. Lowe's, Home Depot, Ace, etc should carry it. Make sure you aren't buying anything with fungicides or the like. You can either put it in a fine media bag and have it in your filter or you could bury it under your substrate. The second technique...

    Water Hardness

As said earlier, peat moss is a good way to do it. If you aren't feeling the effects of the driftwood, or need to lower your hardness in the future, buying some peat moss is a cheap and effective way to do so.

    Ich again!

In the future, as the above post cites, a qt would be a good idea. Something as simple as a 10 gallon with a sponge filter would work. As for now, what temperature do you currently keep the fish? Have you tried salt and upping the temperature in the past?

Hey, looks pretty cool. Quick question, the T that you have in the middle of the tank is supposed to vent water into both the tank and the above fixture correct?

    Puffer Aggression

If you can add more and have a plan for them in the future (and it seems like you do) I would do so. EDIT: You could also make a divider using light diffuser / egg crate

    Imagintive Aquarium Themes

You could just get a small bag of gravel and put a thin layer over the neon stuff. Just make a tank however you like it! :) EDIT: I like the jungle idea.

Partial water change - Fluval Canister 306

From your OP, it sounded like you didn't want to have to prime the pump every time you do a water change. If this is the case, leave it running like Caliban suggested.
