Nice grab post a pic :)

I'm debating on putting them in the tank tonight.. they need to be cleaned for sure lol quick question tho, I grabbed a small piece that's definitely a dead coral, is that okay to put into the tank or no?

Yep those are my favorite pieces... That's all I used in my GFs seahorse tank (20 gallon extra high)

And if you do. For something a little different and unique I would use that large piece with the whole in the middle as a piece in the arch to create a skylight effect and then place a higher light demanding coral on the sandbed in that small ray of light that makes it thru ;)

Use a drill to make peg holes and use an inert material like acrylic or fiberglass rods as pegs then epoxy and you have a solid structure out of multiple pieces for a very custom design

wow thats not a half bad idea!! but then if i did it and i liked it, itd be all your credit not mine!! :/ haha im still not fully understanding the whole arch thing tho

That's the nice thing of dead rock is you can take your time and really work it into your exact idea.. when I upgrade I can tell you now 90% of my rock will be lace rock pre scaped outside the tank

My arch with just epoxy

And the epoxy over time will discolor to match the rocks and then be covered with algaes so it will dissapear for the most part

hmmm but to have it go from one corner in the front to one corner in back is what gets me, i really dont know how that would look in a smaller tank, if it was a bigger tank, that would be awesome, but i feel like im limited with space :/

Nothing is stopping you from taking a hammer and chisel to those rocks.. don't be scared ;)

Reef rock is very soft compared to most rock so very easy to work with

Here's my little arch lol

The idea is the less footprint you take up with the rock and elevate your scaping the cleaner your sandbed and overall system will be

yours looks pretty good!!! and i was just lookin at my new rocks and the rocks that are already in the tank and i might be able to do a small arch on the right side of my tank, leave the left side how it was, maybe higher up tho and use the right side and make an arch off of that, i dont even think ill have to use epoxy with the type of peices i have :)

Also consider pillars which occur in nature a lot too with overhangs coming off them
