Depends on the cichlid. In a thirty gallon all the African cichlids I could think of are kribs, African butterfly cichlids, jewel cichlids, and shellies.

scroll down bit and checkout the thread i wasted $40..from what ive always read there isnt too much thats gonna like being crammed in that small of a tank.
