Aquarium Advice Apprentice
So, After an initial 'trial run' with a few anacharis and red ludwigia inside of a large cylindrical vase (held about 3 gallons). I decided keeping live plants wasn't as scary as I had initially thought. And so I decided to brighten up the family room with a 5.5 gallon planted tank. After a few trial and error weeks of scaping and re-scaping, I think I may finally have something going that I can be proud of.
Currently, the layout is...
SeaChem Fluorite substrate
10 watt Marineland Heater preset to 76
A 14 watt 'daylight' compact fluorescent bulb
DIY Co2 with bubble counter and glass spiral diffuser
Tetra 10 whisper filter (no carbon, just 'netting' for catching macro particles and bacteria housing)
Ember Tetra
2 Otos
A few ghost shrimp
Rotala indica
Crypt wendtii
The pictures show the tanks progression.
I'd appreciate any insight/ advice on how to make this a truly successful aquarium!
