This is the current state of my new 30cm cube tank (17 days old):

It has the following plants (I have put their roles next to them):
Eleocharis acicularis 'Mini' - short ground cover
Helanthium tenellum 'Green' - background curtain
Salvinia auriculata - floating
Vesicularia ferriei 'Weeping' - moss
I think the Helanthium is too short to provide the backdrop - I did not realize it only grows to about 10 cm and I need something that will reach 20-25 cm with a relatively dense but vertical habit. And with darker blue/purple leaves. Does such a plant exist?
I am really happy with the Salvinia - it grows explosively and seems to zero out nitrates very effectively. My only issue is the "root" system of the plant (I know the roots are actually leaves with this plant) - I would like more roots! and I want the surface to be less monocultured. Frogsbit looks like it would be much too big for the tank so I was thinking of adding Phyllanthus fluitans which seems to have slightly longer (red!) roots and even tiny flowers.
